Everything you want to know about Direct Primary Care, how Bloom works, and what to expect.
About Direct Primary Care
Is Direct Primary Care for me?
If you value having a real relationship with your doctor, getting same-day access, longer appointments, and transparent pricing, DPC may be a great fit. It is ideal for anyone who wants proactive, personalized healthcare without the red tape of insurance-driven medicine.
Is DPC the same as insurance?
No. DPC is not insurance. It's a membership that covers your primary care. We recommend pairing DPC with a catastrophic or high-deductible health plan for hospitalizations, emergencies, and specialist care. Many members find this combination saves them significant money overall.
What makes Bloom different from other DPC practices?
Beyond comprehensive primary care, Bloom specializes in metabolic health. Dr. Katya is board-certified in obesity medicine and takes a root-cause approach to conditions like insulin resistance, diabetes, and obesity, combining evidence-based medicine with personalized lifestyle guidance.
Insurance & Cost
Do you take my insurance?
We don't bill insurance for our membership services. That is what keeps our care affordable and our focus on you instead of paperwork. However, if you have insurance, you can still use it for specialist referrals, imaging, hospitalization, and prescriptions.
Can I afford this?
Most members find DPC saves them money compared to traditional care, especially when you factor in unlimited visits, wholesale lab pricing, and reduced need for urgent care or ER visits. Pricing will be announced at launch — join the Bloom List to be first to know.
Can I see the doctor without a membership?
Yes. Individual non-member visits will be available at full launch. That said, membership offers the best value with unlimited visits, direct access to Dr. Katya, and wholesale pricing on labs and prescriptions. Learn more about non-member visits.
Visits & Access
How do I reach Dr. Katya between visits?
Members can reach Dr. Katya directly by call, text, or email. No phone trees, no waiting for a callback from a nurse. For non-urgent questions, expect a response within one business day.
What happens if I need to be hospitalized?
For hospitalizations and emergencies, you'd use your health insurance or catastrophic plan. Dr. Katya will coordinate with your hospital team and be available to help you navigate your care during and after any hospital stay.
Do you offer telehealth visits?
Yes. Members have access to both in-person and virtual visits. Telehealth is available for many types of visits, making it easy to connect with Dr. Katya from wherever you are.
